Garden Plant Supports

  • Camus Farm , Clonakilty (map)

In this day class we will learn how to make two different willow oblesiks or plant supports—optionally one could also just come for the morning to learn how to make the first structure. Our first plant support will be a tall spiralled structure ideal for peas, beans, and indeed anything that enjoys a good climb. This structure will be woven with a traditional Irish weave found in the donkey creels that bring a great strength. The second , plant support is called a “cloche” that has a stout shape and a domed top, making it ideal for supporting heavy headed flowers or for making a wee portable poly-tunnel. Colourful willow will be provided for both structures.
