Brittany Blue

Brittany Blue
a variety of purperea
This is one of my favourite varieties. I absolutely love the colour. It dries to a beautiful soft shimmering sea blue. It is a lovely long and slender rod that is also strong and 'woody'. This willow needs a little bit less soaking time than most varieties to become supple & mellowing (letting the willow rest in a humid environment for 1-3 days) is important. This variety is most suitable for weavers on stake and strand baskets and frame baskets. I would not recommend this variety for uprights/borders as it is prone to kinking for borders. One of my favourite colours and rods to work with.
strength: resistant to disease; nice even taper; produces fine weavers, gorgeous colour—one of my favourite varieties!
colour: dries to be a beautiful silvery sea blue
